Travel Report: EPT11 Grand Final, Arrival -- Bonjour

A quick one this morning before I head over to the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel for Day 1a of the France Poker Series Main Event, the big kickoff for the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final series. Gonna be spending the next 10 days over there, so it’ll become a familiar place soon enough.

I did get a chance to walk around Monte Carlo some yesterday and enjoy a light dinner while dodging the raindrops. You can see those clouds gathering up above the buildings in that photo taken shortly before the precipitation started.

There were lots of pedestrians about to fill the sidewalks, and as school was out there were a number of youngsters skipping along, too. Reminded me a little of walking around Lille during late afternoons many years ago, being amid the kids’ laughter and the rain.

The weather here is pretty much identical to what I left back home in North Carolina, where it is in fact going to be a little warmer than here over the next week-and-a-half. Pleasantly mild, though, and I hope to have a chance to be out and about a few more times if I can escape the poker now and then.

Check over at the PokerStars blog today for reports on that first day of play in the FPS Main Event. More to come.
